FAQ & Installation
Sensor Cover Installation:
- Our covers install directly over the top of entry sensors
- We recommend installing covers after your sensors are in place. Covers may be difficult to remove when sensors are not mounted
- Cover walls are nominal 1 mm thick, so unless magnet and sensor are extremely close, no removal is necessary
Covers are designed to fit snugly so they do not fall off unintentionally. Cover removal may be difficult due to material expansion/contraction and dimensional variation of the sensor and cover. Some tips for removing covers include:
- Grasp the cover firmly and pull straight away
- Holes in covers, such as Simplisafe and Ring, can be leveraged using a small screw driver to push the sensor against the wall while pulling on the cover
- A thin tool, such as a flat screwdriver or butter knife, can be used on the corner of the cover. Slide behind the cover, being careful to contact the cover and not the sensor, and pry the cover off with a firm and quick motion
- In a worst cast scenario, the adhesive holding the sensor in place may release. This adhesive can be replaced using 3M command strip or similar, available at any hardware or home improvement store
- Another option is to gently soften the cover plastic using a hair dryer or similar. The plastic cover will soften and release the tension holding it in place
